CCG Political Goals - 2020

Adopted February 4, 2020

Times are troubled and the system still serves special interests. Circle City Greens are committed to the values which define the Green Party as we continue community involvement in 2020. Our Chapter plans to upgrade our processes; we will meet for internal debate on our platform; we will enhance existing committees of Elections, Volunteers, and Communications; we will recruit and innovate; we will cooperate in management.

This year, Circle City Greens intend to run at least two candidates, for Township Board/Trustee and for Indiana House/Senate. The focuses of these campaigns shall be decided by the candidates in alignment with the Ten Key Values of the Green Party. All of our campaigns inherently shall, furthermore, advance the causes of Electoral Process and Campaign Finance Reform. CCG will also campaign for federal and state candidates supported from Indiana Green Party. We will achieve this through a regional program to include educating, registering, and petitioning voters to attain ballot access, media relations and assistance with press releases, locating and securing speaking opportunities, training, and coaching.

In addition, we will organize pressure upon incumbent lawmakers in the Indiana state legislature, on the Indianapolis/Marion County City-County Council, and in various office within our broader caucus region to enact policies that align with the platforms of INGP and GPUS and oppose ideas which go against our ten key values.

We will maintain a constant public presence at City-County Council meetings and committee proceedings, at Statehouse hearings, at rallies and political demonstrations, and in everyday community involvement, participating with neighborhood groups in the improvement of our city and with the network of partnerships to Green Party allies and commonly aligned local organizations that we continue to build and cultivate.

With an eye toward the future, we will progress our founding vision for the betterment for the people of Central Indiana, the state, the nation, and the world, and contribute to the expansion of the Green movement by all means we possess.

We will undertake outreach into the surrounding counties to identify fresh volunteers who can be encouraged to establish local affiliates of their own and foster more cooperative relationships with the other caucuses already in development under the guidance of IN Green Party’s larger mission.

We will stay flexible and alert to the unpredictable, recognizing as changemakers ourselves that this election cycle may produce many unexpected opportunities and challenges. Joining the most made of new experiences into our continuing growth, we will move forward through an important year to become a greater force.
